5th Grade Science
Students will be able to identify alternative energy resources such as wind, solar, hydroelectric, geothermal and biofuels.
Students will have a unit test over Weathering, Erosion and Deposition, fossils, the rock cycle and Alternative Energy on Friday.
Students will have a vocabulary quiz on Thursday over the following words. They may practice the words on my quizlet at the link below.
retention of water- the holding back of water in soil
nonrenewable resource-natural resources that take millions of years to replace; once they're gone, they're gone
fossil fuels- materials that are burned for energy, like coal, oil, and natural gas
hydroelectric-energy created from moving water
biofuels-fuel made from living things
geothermal-heat energy from inside the Earth
decomposers- organisms that break down nutrients in dead plants and animals
loam-soil that is beneficial for plant growth
