5th Grade Science
Students will continue to study patterns of change in shadows, tides, seasons, and the observable appearance (phases) of the Moon over time.
Motivation Science Workbook pages 245-248 due Monday. There will be a vocabulary quiz on Tuesday and a test over this Unit on Wednesday.
All 5th grade students will have a "STAAR Day" on Thursday of every week starting this week. We will be focusing on Reading, Math, and Science content to prepare for the STAAR test.
Unit Vocabulary- Shadow-an image cast when light is blocked by an object
tide-the regular rise and fall of ocean levels
moon phases-the changes in the appearance of the Moon as seen from Earth,
season-one of four periods of the year caused by the tilt of Earth away or toward the Sun as it revolves around the Sun

Students will also need to know the moon phases.

If your child is not content with his or her Science test grades this six weeks, students may complete test corrections to raise their test grade and learn from their mistakes. All of my Science students are given the opportunity to turn in test corrections to receive credit for half of the points for each question they missed. The test corrections must be written on notebook paper and stapled to the original test. The corrections must include the entire question (not just the number) and the entire answer (not just the letter) to receive half of the points for each question missed.
I have added many STAAR Reviews and Vocabulary quizlet sets to my class Quizlet. Please have your child practice as review and preparation for the Science STAAR test in the spring.
