5th Grade Science
Students will be able to differentiate between weather and climate. Students will be able to diagram and describe the water cycle.
Students will have a vocabulary quiz on Thursday over the following words. Students will be given vocabulary homework on Monday and it will be due Friday. They can study the words from their homework or from quizlet at the following link https://quizlet.com/_4feelm accumulation: Water that collects on the Earth's surface 2.condensation: When water vapor changes to a liquid after a decrease in thermal energy 3.evaporation: When liquid water changes to a gas after an increase in thermal energy 4.ground water: Water under the Earth's surface that supplies wells and springs 5.percolation: The movement of water through the soil 6.precipitation: Water that falls from clouds to Earth as rain, hail, sleet, or snow. 7.runoff: Water that does not soak into the ground and instead flows across the Earth's surface. 8.transpiration: the process by which plants give off water vapor through the stomata in their leaves 9.water cycle: the process in which water continuously moves from Earth's surface into the atmosphere and back again. 5th Grade will be having Valentine Parties with our homerooms on Wednesday at the end of the day. Students are asked to bring Valentines for their homeroom and may bring Valentines for friends outside of their homeroom if they would like. Mrs. Pettyjohn sent home a note and emailed out a sign up genius for students to bring snacks to share and a list of student names. We have 23 students in our homeroom.
