5th Grade Science
Monday the students will be doing a "Candy Lab" for Halloween. They will explore Lollipop Light Refraction, Candy Corn Physical Properties and Solubility of a variety of small candies.
This week the students will complete the Light Unit. They will be able to demonstrate that light travels in a straight line until it strikes an object or travels through one medium to another. They will be able to define reflection, refraction and absorption. Vocabulary homework is due Friday.

Students are reviewing for their electricity and circuits test. The test will be on Wednesday. They were given a typed review to study for the test. There is no vocabulary homework this week. Next the students will start on the light unit and learn about reflection and refraction.
Please sign up for teacher conferences. Students will learn about energy in the form of electricity. They will be able to demonstrate the difference between an open and closed circuit. Students will be able to define and give examples of conductors and insulators. Vocabulary homework is due Friday. Students will have a test over force, motion, electricity and circuits on Friday.

They will also learn more about force and motion. There is no vocabulary homework this week. The students will have a test over energy on Wednesday as last week's test was postponed.
