5th Grade Science
Students will begin the study of Life Science Organisms and Environments starting with the Ecosystem Interactions Unit. Students will observe the way organisms live and survive in their ecosystem by interaction with the living and non-living elements. Student will be able to describe how the flow of energy derived from the Sun, used by producers to create their own food, is transferred through a food chain and food web to consumers and decomposers. Students will predict the effects of changes in ecosystems caused by living organisms, including humans, such as the overpopulation of grazers or the building of highways. Students will identify the significance of the carbon dioxide-oxygen cycle to the survival of plants and animals.

Students enjoyed a long weekend with being off Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday Students will go over last Friday's test and complete test corrections. Students will review key vocabulary terms from throughout the year by completing activity stations. Students will review key concepts from throughout the year by playing Kahoot trivia.

Upcoming Events: 2-14-17 Valentine's Day Class Party We will exchange Valentines as a homeroom class. I sent home a class list of names last week. Students are welcome to bring Valentines for their friends in other homerooms if they would like. The party will be from 2:15 to 3:15. Teachers will provide cupcakes for the students and we will be watching a movie. Students are asked to bring snacks and drinks. There are 24 kids in our homeroom class. Upcoming Events: 2-14-17 Valentine's Day Class Party We will exchange Valentines as a homeroom class. Students will need to bring a shoe box or bag to decorate by Friday 2-10-17. They can bring things to decorate their "Valentine Mailbox." I will have butcher paper to wrap them, markers, glitter and stickers available to use as decorations also.
