5th Grade Science
Students will continue our unit of force, motion, and energy. Students will learn that energy occurs in many forms and will study the effect of forces on objects. Students will explore the uses of energy, including mechanical, light, thermal, electrical, and sound. Students will learn about circuits and light through hands on labs this week.
Students will have a vocabulary quiz Tuesday over the energy vocabulary they were given the week of 10-17-17 which is below for reference. Conductor-a substance that allows electricity to travel through it Insulator-a substance that does not allow electricity to travel through it Circuit-an electrical device that allows electricity to flow through Current-the flow of electricity Light-a form of energy that travels in waves and a straight line that can move through empty space Sound-a form of energy created by vibrations Reflection-the bouncing back of light waves Refraction-the bending of light through a substance Opaque-not allowing light to pass through Translucent-allows only some light to pass through Transparent-allows light to pass through Students will have a test over force and motion on Wednesday. They will be need to study their journals and text books.
